Municipality of Utrecht
Where is the building file of your house in Utrecht?
Which archive holds the file depends on the year the permit was granted. Below is where to be for each period, with the date on which I checked it.
This covers Vleuten, De Meern, Leidsche Rijn, Overvecht and Haarzuilens as well.

The counters in Utrecht
Utrecht splits at 1995 and again at 2010. Everything up to 1995 sits with the city archive and is online. From 1996 it runs through one form at the municipality, free for permits from 2011 and charged for the years in between.
Up to 1995
Het Utrechts Archief
All building files are online. Anything from before 1910 you can view and download straight away. Younger drawings are screened off for copyright, but a digital copy for your own use can be requested with the button next to the file.
As I noted it in Dutch, with the links and the exact terms you will need on their website:
Alle bouwdossiers staan online; van vóór 1910 kunt u ze direct bekijken en downloaden. Jongere tekeningen zijn om auteursrecht afgeschermd, maar u kunt een digitale kopie voor eigen gebruik aanvragen via de knop bij het dossier. https://hetutrechtsarchief.nl/onderzoek/bouwdossiers. Vastgelopen: inlichtingen@hetutrechtsarchief.nl, 030 - 286 66 11.
I can look this file up and download it for you.
1996 to 2010
gemeente Utrecht
For these years the municipality charges € 12,15 per file (2026 rate), payable by iDEAL. That is more than the ten euros included in my price, so I will call you about it before anything is requested.
As I noted it in Dutch, with the links and the exact terms you will need on their website:

This counter does supply me, but it charges more than the ten euros included in the price. If you request it, I will call you first about what it will cost.
From 2011
gemeente Utrecht
The same form, and for permits from 2011 onwards the municipality charges nothing.
I can request this file for you.
Worth knowing
Allow time for Utrecht. The municipality answers within four weeks with a list of which files exist, and the copies follow within ten working days of your choice. If the file has to be there for a building project with a date on it, this is the one to start first.
As I noted it in Dutch, with the links and the exact terms you will need on their website:
Let op de doorlooptijd: u krijgt binnen vier weken een mail met welke dossiers er zijn, en na uw keuze komen de kopieën binnen tien werkdagen. Vraag het dus aan zodra u weet dat u het nodig heeft.

I checked these details on 6 September 2026. Counters and period boundaries change; if something no longer holds, please tell me.
In Dutch
The same page in Dutch, where you can also look up your own address: bouwtekeningen opvragen in Utrecht.
Rather not do this yourself
I put together the file for your address
For € 145 including VAT I collect the building file and everything else known about your address that can matter structurally: the cone penetration tests nearby, the soil profile, the foundation picture of the neighbourhood, the plot details and the aerial photographs year by year. With it you get a reader's guide in English that says what is there and what is missing. For € 295 I also map the load-bearing structure of the house: the walls that carry load on each floor, the roof, the foundation and what keeps it stable. Only after what the public records say, without the archive? Then there is the address report for € 95.
Have me do the structural calculation afterwards and this amount comes off it. If the archive holds nothing, you get your money back.
